@keopgaard
hello,
i would try to work with extremtextil fabric.
i will test two mini irons. one with 20w and the other is matts standard iron.
with which temperature you weld the extremtextil fabric?i ask myself if it’s a good idea to use double coated 210d fabric from extremtextil with stripes over the seals.
regards mike
Hi, sorry for the late delay.
I used my heat sealing iron, coverite iron on max temp, aprox 400-420 f-220 d.celsius. Any other heat sealing iron will problably NOT work. The Coverite is a 150 w iron, have tried with a modified 60 w iron and it did not put out the heat needed. I have a modified soldering iron 60 w with a iron tip that work superb on Matt`s fabric on max heat settings. But for fabric from extremetextil, coverite or any similar heat selling iron is the answer to get propper welding.
Actually I think the best fabric from extremtextil to build packraft from would be the 500 D Cordura TPU, have tried welding on test fabric and it is as hard to weld as 210 D from extremetextil but the fabric is much stronger, way over the 210 Denier TPU fabric. I would try to build a packraft during wintertime as coming in Norway as we speak with this fabric.
Good luck building and don´t hesitate to contact me if you have more questions.
Last: I would recommend to not use 210 D tpu singel or dobbel side tpu for floor, but 420 D tpu if you go forward with you’re build. Extremetextil have 420 D singelside tpu.
Best Regard Kjetil
