The build report and stunning photos below were all provided by Barbara B. Thanks, Barbara! – Matt

I received my DIY Packraft kit in February 2021, and was able to take it on its maiden voyage near Canmore, Alberta in March 2021. I documented the entire process, though much of that is a blur. Attached are some final build photos of it around the Canadian Rockies (all in southern Alberta), screenshots of my daily notes as I was building it (from two years ago), as well as in-progress photos. It’s been on many trips with me and has allowed me to explore backcountry lakes that I otherwise wouldn’t have been able to paddle. When I need to pack it in, I find my 60L North Face Crestone pack works really well. The only thing I’ve found is that our glacially-fed cold water makes it shrink a little bit, so I just top it up with a handful of breaths maybe 15 minutes after putting it in the water and it’s all fine. Can even do that by turning around while on the water by now – it’s very stable. Here’s to lots more paddles to come.
