Create a Forum Account
Before you can post in the Forum, you will need to create an account by visiting the “Register (Create an Account)” link under the Forum drop-down menu, above.
You do not have to be a DIY Packraft customer – anyone can create an account.
You will need to wait for me to approve your membership request, which can take a few days if I’m away from my computer. About 95% of membership requests come from spammers and bots, so if your name doesn’t match your email address or something else looks weird, I might deny your request by mistake. If you receive an email saying your request was denied, please try again and send me a message through the Contact page to prove you are a real person.
Note: The password you create for your Forum account will not grant you access to the kit instructions or anything else on this site – it is only for the forum. (A password for the instructions is included with each DIY Packraft kit.)
Start a New Topic:
If you would like to start a new “topic” (a whole new link that will be listed on the main forum page here: https://www.diypackraft.com/forums/forum/diy-packrafts/ ), then scroll down to the “Create New Topic” form at the bottom of that page. Please only do that if it is truly a new topic though… often people start a new topic without looking to see if the topic is already being discussed.
Comment in an Existing Topic:
If you want to add a new comment to an existing topic, such as the “DIY Packraft Photos” topic here https://www.diypackraft.com/forums/topic/diy-packraft-photos/ then you can use the “Reply To: DIY Packraft Photos” box at the bottom of that page and then your new post, being the most recent, will go to the top of that page.
Reply to a Specific Comment
If you want to reply to someone else’s comment on one of the topic pages and have your comment appear nested below the existing comment, click on the little grey “Reply” link in that comment’s header (to the right of the date, etc.). It’s a little bit confusing, because clicking that button sometimes takes you to the form at the bottom of the page, but your post should still end up nested below the comment you are replying to.
Add Pictures to your Post
Click on the little mountain icon above the text box and you will be able to add photos to your post. Please make sure the photo file sizes are less than 1 MB (1000 KB) or they may not load properly when other people view the page.
Still Confused?
If this sounds confusing, don’t worry – just try it out, and if it doesn’t end up looking the way you expected, you’ll be able to delete or edit your comment for a while after you post it, and even if that time limit elapses and you want to delete something, you can always email me and ask me to go in and delete it for you so you can re-post it the way you like.
If you have a question about something Forum-related that isn’t answered here, please post a comment below and I will update this page.
Hopefully that all makes sense, but if not, just ask.
