      I hear you, and that was my hunch; my concern is that it is hard to get the right tool at a “consumer” price point (if at all), and it seems that most (all?) of the recommended irons are a gamble on their quality; Matt has had some positive experiences with a couple off-the-shelf irons, but it seems like others experiences are all over the board.

      Hi. Andrew here. Interested in packrafting, and I like working with my hands, since my work is entirely working with my brain. Plus I always think I can make something better (for me) than what is commercially available, even though I am frequently proven wrong.

      Bruce, do you recommend the (reshaped) coverite or the JingdaLeather iron? I see you posted about both. Since the iron performance seems to be the difference between a good and poor quality raft (well, and patience while fabricating), I really want to get an iron that works well. Thanks!
