      Hey Matt!

Thanks for your quick reply. Unfortunately this was back in the day, when applying Aquasure on  seams wasn’t ‘en vogue’ so I’ve only used it at the bottom bits where the seams join the floor. On my next one I’ll be sure to do it on the seams as well.

I’m now thinking about fixing all leaks in my existing rafts as good as possible and then slice them open on ~4 locations with maybe 15cm slits to generously apply seam sealer on all seams after the fact. Afterwards I’d just patch them up again.

Does that sound crazy? I think I’d take the risk of cutting open a good raft to get a more airtight built.

glad it all worked out in the end and congratulations: nice raft you built there! 🙂

      Hi!

I’m not a bot from Austria – hopefully I’ll work as precise as one… 🙂

      Alright, I’ll look into that!

Just to clarify the terms: By “sealant” on the outside you mean something like this? https://www.amazon.com/-/de/dp/B000O71L6Q/ref=sr_1_8?__mk_de_DE=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&dchild=1&keywords=aqua+seam+sealer&qid=1617367555&sr=8-8

      Or just the regular Aquasure?

      Hey Eliot,

thanks a ton for the insights and thanks to Matt for putting up the documentation.

I finished my first V3 on the weekend – all the outfitting is yet to come. I was so eager to try it out that I even forgot to pull off all of the masking tape.Finished V3

Cheesy picture paddeling it on the Danube:

      Hey Thomas!

Yep, he wood-form is described in the V3 instructions.
You’ll find it there at step 4.2 (and never want to miss it from then on :-))

It does look awesome – good job!

I’d also be really interested in the materials you used for the “rods” (I hope that’s the correct term) of the sprayskirt.

      Hey Logan!

I havn’t started building my packraft yet but I’d be curious to know how you proceeded. Did it work out in the end?

      Hey Bruce!

I also want to thank you for all your inputs – really helpful! 🙂

What you mean by filing the foot is to make the bottom side completely flat, right?
Did you do this by hand? Is it hard to do?

I also work with the Jingda-Iron and so far, I’m happy with my results (hadn’t much time to built yet though).
I checked the temperature with a thermometer and found that it’s always a little bit colder than it is supposed to be. When set to 225°C you actually get ~210°C which is a good temperature to weld in my opinion.

I’ll get my hands on the following iron soon and will review it here as well:

The display with the iron-temperature could be a nice feature…
