Description
This is the fabric used to make the DIY Packraft tubes, seats, etc. It’s custom made for DIY Packraft and isn’t available anywhere else.
This high temperature nylon oxford fabric has an abrasion resistant and heat-sealable thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) coating on one side (see Fabrics for definitions).
Weight is approximately 250 grams per square meter (7.4 ounces per square yard).
This is the stronger form of nylon, used in things like parachutes, airbags, and military applications, and it has a significantly higher melting point than other heat-sealable fabrics, so you are much less likely to damage it with a heat sealing iron. It is similar in strength, weight, and durability to fabrics used by the best packraft manufacturers.
The dye is in the fabric itself, and the TPU is clear and colorless, so the color is visible on both sides (unlike in some other heat-sealable fabrics).
Fabric is sold from the roll by the linear yard (1 yard = 91 cm) and the usable width is approximately 145 cm (57″). This means that 1 “yard” of fabric by length equals 1.45 square yards (1.2 square meters) of usable fabric, which weighs approximately 300 grams (10.6 oz).
To order a length of 5 yards (for example), choose a quantity of “5”.

Notes:
- Fabric will be folded for shipping.
- TPU coated fabrics are not the same as PU (polyurethane) coated fabrics sold elsewhere.
- The manufacturing process may leave minor cosmetic imperfections in the fabric. These will not affect the strength or airtightness of the fabric.
- Stock is limited. Large orders may be cancelled, and bulk fabric sales may be discontinued without notice. Contact me if you plan to order more than 5 m of one color.
