Description
Like the other fabrics in the DIY Packraft shop, this tough fabric is specially made for DIY Packraft from high strength, high temperature nylon. This fabric is used to make the packraft floors.
This is the stronger form of nylon, used in things like parachutes, airbags, and military applications, and it has a significantly higher melting point than other heat-sealable fabrics, so you are less likely to damage it with a heat sealing iron.
The nylon is laminated between two thick layers of heat-sealable TPU, giving it a smooth surface with excellent abrasion and puncture resistance on both sides. Having TPU coatings on both sides means this fabric won’t soak up any water. Being heat sealable on both sides also means you must plan your projects carefully because you cannot apply an iron directly to this fabric – the TPU will melt to the iron – so it must either be used in conjunction with single-sided fabrics or sealed using a hot air gun and roller.
Fabric is sold from the roll by the linear yard (1 yard = 91 cm) and the usable width is approximately 145 cm (57″). This means that 1 “yard” of fabric by length equals 1.45 square yards (1.2 square meters) of usable fabric, which weighs approximately 570 grams (20 oz).
To order a length of 2 yards (for example), choose a quantity of “2”.

Notes:
- Fabric will be folded for shipping.
- TPU coated fabrics are not the same as PU (polyurethane) coated fabrics sold elsewhere.
- The manufacturing process may leave minor cosmetic imperfections in the fabric. These will not affect the strength or airtightness of the fabric.
- Stock is limited. Large orders may be cancelled, and bulk fabric sales may be discontinued without notice. Contact me before placing an order for more than 10 yards.
