Every so often I think DIY Packraft should have a logo – something beautiful, clever, iconic, and instantly recognizable – like Apple’s apple or the Coca Cola script… but I’m not a world-class graphic designer, so that doesn’t really seem feasible.
I’ve considered hiring a designer or a brand consultant to help make DIY Packraft look like a “real” company, but I have no idea how that process works and I worry that I’d end up paying a ton of money for something I don’t really like and doesn’t feel “real”. Plus, it would be kind of ironic for a company with “DIY” in its name to outsource its image and look overly polished.
So, after doodling around for a while I came up with this stencil, cut it out of black 250 GSM fabric, and ironed it onto my yellow Skeena.
What do you think – would you want this on your packraft?
Originally I had an additional line underneath that read, “Made by: _________” (with a box where you could sign your name), but the smaller font was really difficult to cut out so I eliminated it. I still like that idea though.
If you have an opinion about the design, or if you have different ideas, please leave a comment below!

Now that mine has been built and used I think I will add a logo to mine. I like it!

The scoring and cutting out of letters would definitely be tedious, especially when one tackles this near the end of the project and just wants to get on the water. I’ve been looking into print options – getting a logo printed onto some clear material that will stick to the TPU. Not sure what material would stick, so been playing around with logos while waiting for the kit in the mail. Can’t seem to be able to upload screenshots with this post, but would be happy to share.

I definitely plan on adding this to my DIY Packraft. Love the idea of the Made By line as well, so would love to see your design of it if you don’t mind sharing. Will be ordering a Skeena as soon as you have the fabric back in stock and would imagine that there’ll be enough leftover fabric to add on the logo. The no-nonsense simplicity of this one is nice. I know people have been going crazy with Cricut cutters through Covid (I’ve never used on or seen one in real life) and they seem to handle small detail cut-outs well. Not sure about materials it would work on though.

Unfortunately people complained that it was too difficult to separate all the tiny pieces that weren’t fully cut through, so I stopped scoring fabric for this type of logo. I’m experimenting with other ways of making them though, so hopefully it’ll work out 🙂

Would love to have this also on my packrafts. I have a lot of scrap material left over, so is it possible to get a file for printing? I think it will be not too difficult for me to transfers this to the fabric.
Thank you very much

I think that is great! Maybe offer it in different colors so it can be contrasting?

Matt,
That logo is perfect! I won’t even try to come up with my own version any longer. I’m proud to be a DIY Packraft builder and want others know they don’t have to spend $$$$$ for a packraft. My floating friends are pretty amazed at both my V3 and Telkwa. Good job!
