How to Modify Your Order

I am very grateful for the number of people who placed orders immediately after I announced the new fabric shipment had arrived, and now I am working to fulfill the orders as quickly as possible.

DIY Packraft is just me (Matt), so it’s taking me several days to respond to emails. If you forgot to include something in your order or want to make a change, it’s no problem – please read on.

Shipping costs are calculated based on the size and weight of the parcel, so there is a different procedure to follow depending on how changes to your order affect the size and weight of the parcel.

I’ve laid out the most common scenarios below, but if the instructions are unclear or incomplete, please post a comment below asking for clarification.

Make a Change that Lowers the Cost

If you want to make a change that lowers the cost of your order, such as choosing a smaller packraft size or removing an airtight zipper from your kit, simply send an email through the contact page and I will make a note of the change and refund the price difference. Usually this will not result in additional delays.

Very Small Changes:

If you want to make a small change that will not affect the weight or price of your order (such as choosing a different color for your packraft kit), simply send an email through the contact page and I will make a note of the change. This will usually not result in any further delay.

Small Changes:

If you want to add something small and lightweight to your packraft kit order, such as an extra valve or an airtight zipper, then please:

1. Start a new order by adding the item to your Cart.
2. Mention your original order number in the comments box during checkout (check your Spam folder if you haven’t seen your receipt). For example, say, “Add to order 12345.”
3. Use the coupon code “add_to_order” to enable free shipping.*
4. Complete the checkout process.
5. I will see your note and I will ship the new order with your previous order. This will not result in any processing delay.

Larger Changes:

If you want to add something to your order that changes its size and weight significantly, such another packraft kit, a spray deck and skirt, bulk fabric and a valve to make an inflatable floor insert, or change the kit from a Skeena to a 2-Person packraft (for example), this will likely increase the shipping cost. Normally I would calculate this change for you, but because I am quite busy right now, it’s taking me several days to respond to emails, and you can skip the back-and-forth and minimize delays by calculating it yourself:

1. Check the new shipping cost by adding all of the items to your Cart, including the items you previously ordered and the items you wish to add to your order. Make a note of the total shipping cost. (If more than one shipping method is available, choose the same method you chose on your initial order – check your Spam folder if you haven’t seen your receipt.)
2. Remove the previously-ordered items from your Cart, leaving only the new items you wish to add to your order.
3. Look at your previous receipt and find the amount you have already paid for shipping. Subtract that number from the new shipping cost you found in step 1. This is the difference in shipping cost.**
4. Visit the Special Order product page and choose the correct quantity to add the difference in shipping cost to your Cart, rounding down to the nearest dollar.
5. Use the coupon code “add_to_order”* to enable free shipping for your new order.
6. Mention your original order number in the “order notes” comments box during checkout (check your Spam folder if you haven’t seen your receipt). For example, say, “Add to order 12345. Thanks, Matt – you’re the best!” ;D
7. Complete the checkout process.
8. I will see your note on the new order and I will ship it with your previous order. Note that this may delay your first order significantly (adding an additional packraft kit will move your order to the back of the queue).

Increase the Packraft Kit Size or Make it Multi-Color

If you want to increase the packraft size, or change to a multi-color kit, please:

1. Make a note of the price of the kit you want.
2. Subtract the price of the kit you have already purchased (check your Spam folder if you haven’t seen your receipt).
3. Use the Special Order product to add the price increase to your Cart and start a new order.**
4. Add a note to your new order indicating your previous order number and the change you wish to make; for example, “Change order 12345 from a 120 cm Skeena to a 130 cm Skeena.”)
5. Complete the checkout.

*Please do not use this coupon code on your initial order. I will see it and I will not send your order.

**I will also check this amount before I send your order, so to avoid further delays, please be honest.
